The first step is to strip the interior and dash, including the wiring, engine gearbox, external panels, windows, headlights
Check to determine if brakes need to be replaced. Also, if you have old OEM drum brakes plan to perform a disc brake conversion.
Powder coating should be applied to bumpers, wheel trims, and other parts.
Remove any parts that are rusty with a sander. The best option is to replace the part completely.
Seal underneath car which will prevent corrosion. Next step is to fill, sand, and prime the car for painting.
The engine is the most expensive part to source. and it is best to find one with low mileage. Also, consider replacing the water pump, valves, and timing chain.
Check all remaining parts, from the radiator to the air conditioning system. Thes parts may require powder coating or painting.
Classic cars usually need to be updated with safety features such as airbags and seat belts.
The last step of course is to rewire the car and reassemble the brakes, suspension, gearbox, cooling system and dashboard. Refit the lights and windows. Work on the interior including the upholstery.
